Born in Boston, 1954, I was an only child raised in Manhattan by a single mom. Mom got a job at KQ&R, the outfit that sold all the advertising space in Marvel Comics. Key here is the fact that “checking copies” had to be sent to all the advertisers. Sometimes Marvel sent more comics than were needed for that purpose. Little Eliot got many of those extra Marvel comic books.

Thanks to mom and her co-conspirators at that ad agency, I began working for Marvel in 1978. I quickly brought my camera in.

Now in this dazzling future I can share the history of that fabled comic Bullpen, perfectly captured on film. Imperfectly remembered by one who was there.

Below are memories and stories of me and comic books and me and modeling.
