Sniper rifles have ranged from plug-ugly to sleek and exotic. Selecting which one to bring into a tactical situation is like choosing the right clothing for a soiree. While it’s no secret I like heavy firepower, precision is sometimes called for. Traditionally, a heavy bullet traveled slower, had more time to interact with air currents. The Barrett .50 is an exception. It brute-forces its way through everything, but it is five feet long and as heavy as a log.
What might be an ideal solution is that overall form of Heckler & Koch’s G3 model 92, the full-auto military model. A version of this weapon has been in production for over 40 years, and the H & K boys have gotten their patented roller-lock action pretty well worked out. By using 7.62mm NATO ammo, you can even fire long-range short bursts and still hit your target.
