Smith & Wesson has made many different models for the .357 magnum cartridge. All good guns. Some hold up better than others under the beating modern powder loads can impose on guns. Mr. Eastwood, being a shooter himself, chose a .44 model 19, built on S & W’s K-frame. Big gun. But that particular moded was introduced almost 40 years ago. S & W also used the K-frame for their .357 mag, a very big gun. More recently, S & W introduced their model 686 on an L-frame; a little lighter in places, different metal, a little heavier in other places — in all, these Classic Hunter Limited Editions shoot nearly perfectly out of the box.
The rubber-handgripped gun has a six-inch barrel, while the walnut-gripped one is their five-inch barrel. Interesting feel to it, good, but I’m not accustomed to the lesser kick yet.
