A few years back, Nikon brought out a huge line super-fast telephoto lenses--all the sports pros use them. I chose them over astronomical telescopes because of the relative higher speed, or rather, greater light sensitivity at long focal lengths.

Maintenance is always an on-gong chore. This Nikon F2 came through ‘Nam smoother than ever and, with a newer DP-2 electronic ~head,~ I can shoot reliably at ASA3200. I’m still experimenting with low-light TV cameras like this Panasonic with a front hard-mount for the big glass.
